Spot UV involves a clear, shiny coating applied to specific areas of artwork to create an eye-catching contrast, making it a luxury choice for business cards, brochure covers and packaging. Although it can be applied to the whole product, the ‘Spot’ element of the process is worth mentioning. Spot UV is the final finish in the printing process. This means that all ink layers are laid down, any paper lamination is added, and the drying process complete. Spot UV is then printed on top of the paper, as a clear gloss, and then dried for the finished result.
